Great speakers truly bring the best out of music and movies. A few years ago, I bought an Onkyo receiver and speaker set off Facebook Marketplace for $150 - a pretty insane deal for the quality of this system. At the time I was in a rented house with 4 roommates, so I didn't want to risk them falling off the wall or on stands... so they sat on the top of the entertainment center. Not exactly great for style or sound quality.
After signing the lease on my own apartment, I was excited to jazz it up a little. My dad had a pair of old JBL speaker stands, and since I've been looking at every problem in my life as solvable with 3D printing, I decided to design the following mounts to adapt the speakers to the stands.
I decided to go for an organic, "grown" aesthetic, providing a contrast between the sharp lines of the speakers. This was my first time experimenting with surface modeling, and combining the arms with the solid bodies of the stand and screw mount features proved to be a little difficult.
I printed them using black high-flow PETG on my Bambu Labs P1S. The higher UV stability and increased creep resistance compared to standard PLA will hopefully keep them looking great for years to come.
Installed with the rest of the entertainment system. I'm thrilled with how well they blend in with and elevate the style of the room!
Next up, that center speaker probably needs a little bit of the same treatment... maybe some tiny feet with the same look are on order.
